Mr. Adawi brings over 20 years of expertise in finance with nearly his entire career spent in the life sciences, including the last 10 years as Chief Financial Officer. His prior role was Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Exagen Inc. (Nasdaq: XGN) which commercialized a suite of testing products enabling healthcare providers to improve care for patients through the differential diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring of systemic lupus erythematosus.  As CFO of Exagen Inc., Mr. Adawi played a key role in the IPO process, taking Exagen public in September 2019.   
 

Prior to Exagen, Mr. Adawi served as Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Secretary and Treasurer of Pathway Genomics. He also held financial leadership positions at life science companies Becton Dickinson and GenMark Dx. 
 

Mr. Adawi earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University, followed by an MBA from Oakland University, then furthered his education with a Master of Science in Finance from San Diego State University. 
 

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Adawi is actively involved in the San Diego community. He serves on the San Diego Bowl Game Association for the Holiday Bowl and is an Ambassador at Sports San Diego for the Rady Children’s Invitational college basketball tournament.
